About me
I am Oscar Fernandez Guerra, a Senior Data Scientist at the World Data Lab. Previously, I was a Data Scientist and Interim Team Lead at DataScience Service (DSS).
I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). During my academic career, I worked as a Student Assistant at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna (IHS) in the Macroeconomics and Business Cycles division, and I also provided consultancy services for the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI). I continue to teach International Macroeconomics and Applied Econometrics at WU.
Research Focus
My research interests lie in the field of Macroeconomics, with a special emphasis on understanding the drivers of business cycle fluctuations in emerging and developing economies, and analyzing macroeconomic synchronization dynamics within the European Monetary Union. I am also interested in studying the channels through which the financial sector can incentivize firms to engage in decarbonization strategies. With my research, I aim to give answers to these questions from both an empirical and theoretical perspective.
My research has been published in international, peer-reviewed journals such as Energy Economics.
